A fresh start

It is amazing that with God each day is a brand new day. Yesterday and all the mistakes and sins that we made are gone and a fresh start begins. That is the truth that is in the bible but how much do we really believe that it is the truth for us? Jesus made the way for our sins to be forgiven and for us to start each day anew. But even though He forgives and forgets do we do the same? Do we forgive ourselves and start each day with a clean slate? Or do we hold onto the past sins, failures, and mistakes while praying that we are “better” today? See if we hold onto the things that God has forgiven us for we hold ourselves back from being able to be or do better. If we hold onto yesterday we can not fully live for today. But the good news is that the truth is that each day is a brand new, fresh start for us and we have to whole heartedly believe that.

When we hold on to our faults we are holding ourselves back from the life that Jesus wants us to have. He says that He forgives and forgets our sins, remembering the no more, and He wants us to do the same. He says that each day is a fresh start because it is. Each morning we wake we are like newborn babies. We start each day just like a newborn starts life, without any fault at all. And even if we mess up 100 times throughout the day, when we ask for forgiveness and wake the next morning we start all over again.

It is such a blessing to be able to leave yesterday behind. It is such a blessing to have the opportunity to start all over each morning. It is such a blessing to have the chance to be better today than we were yesterday. And it is such a blessing that even if we are worse today than we were yesterday we get to start all over the following morning. You are starting with a clean slate today so leave yesterday behind you. Leave the past in the past and live for today. Your fresh start is every morning so never think that it is too late for you. Start your day anew, pray for the Holy Spirit to help you throughout the day, and live the best that you can. But always know that if you mess up today, tomorrow is still a new beginning for you. Never give up because Jesus will not give up on you.
