Often times when I am questioning if Jesus is upset or disappointed in me because of my failures and lack of actions I will resort to the above scripture. It helps me to remind myself that we are no surprise to Him. It reminds me that He already knew what my failures and weaknesses and struggles would be before I began my relationship with Him. It reminds me that I don’t have to be weighed down by imperfections and faults.
I think that everyone of us have had times that we wonder if God really knew what He was getting Himself into when He accepted us as His children. We wonder if we are not good enough because of our faults and failures. We wonder if He has threw His hands up and gave up on us because we are just too much to deal with. We may even expect God to be as disappointed in us as we are and for Him to be fed up with our disobedience. The enemy loves to put these kind of thoughts in our mind so that we won’t step into the life that is available to us.
It is freeing to know that God already knew what we would be like before He came into our hearts. It is freeing to know that He already knew what human nature was like and that we are part of that nature. It is freeing to know that we are not a surprise to God at all. He already knew what mankind was like. He already knew our weakness to temptations because He faced the same things. And He knows that it was only because He of God living in Him that He was able to resist those temptations.
Jesus already knows what nature we were created with and that is still part of us. He knows what our spirit struggles with when it comes to temptations and our human nature’s desires. He knows how strong that temptation may be and the struggle with our human nature. He gets it. And I am so glad that He does.
We are so blessed to have someone that understands us even better than we understand ourselves. We are blessed to have someone that doesn’t expect more from us than what we are able to give. We are so blessed to have someone that does not hold imperfections and faults against us and has mercy on us. We are so blessed to have someone that accepts and loves us just as we are.
Don’t let the enemy beat you up with lies. Don’t let him tell you that you are not good enough or that you are a surprise to God. Don’t let him keep you from having a close relationship with God and create the life that you deserve. Don’t let him win in the battle.
Jesus already knew what He was getting Himself into and He loves us still. He already knew what we were going to be like and He still accepts us. He knew the faults and failures that each of us would have and yet He still chose us.
