We are capable of much more than we think we are capable of. We can do things that we think are impossible for us to do. We can make changes that we think will be way to difficult to make. But far to often we keep ourselves stuck when we could be moving forward. We will allow something to hold us back just because we do not want to have to go threw anything that is not easy. We want to be able to snap our fingers and have the victory. We want someone else to do the work for us but we get the credit and the reward for it. I wish that life was that way but unfortunately no one can live our lives for us. We have to put in the sweat and tears for what we want. We have to do the work.
The only out is to go threw! We have to take the steps to get to where it is that we want to go. We have to put forth the effort. The Holy Spirit is our assistant. He will be there to walk right beside us each step of the way. He will provide what we lack within ourselves to do what we need to do. He will guide, encourage, and cheer us on, BUT he will not do the work for us. What He will do is give us the drive, energy, desire, strength, motivation, and determination to do what we need to do. All we have to do is ask for it, receive it, and make use of it. If we are willing, He will make sure that we are able to do what we need to do.
When we walk threw things and put in the work that is needed to overcome or change something we gain so much more than just victory of the thing. We gain power, confidence, purpose, accomplishment, endurance, and freedom. We believe in ourselves more. We are proud of ourselves. And we are empowered to do the next task without as much resistance and effort. It can even motivate us to take on a change of a greater challenge.
If you have been avoiding something because you think that it will be too hard to accomplish then change the way that you think about it. Do not let yourself think about all the work that it is going to involve or how uncomfortable it is going to be. Don’t think about all the work that is going to take.We can defeat ourselves before we ever get started by the way that we think about a situation. Think about the end result of what you need to do. Think about how good it is going to feel when you accomplish what you need to do. Think about the good that is going to come from it. Think thoughts of how strong you are, how Jesus is with you and is helping you, how you can do whatever you need to do through Jesus, how you are going to do what you need to do. Encourage yourself by the way that you think about the situation.
You could start with a small goal or change that will not be very hard to accomplish to built up the motivation for a bigger challenge. As you work towards it make sure that you praise yourself along the way for your progress. Pay attention to the good feelings that you are having. remind yourself often that you are doing a good job and that you are doing what you need to do. Tell yourself that you are proud of yourself and the progress that you are making. And when you succeed at the change hold onto the victory and those empowered feelings of accomplishment to move you into a greater challenge.
If we are willing and determined to do something, God will make sure that we have what we need to accomplish it. We are stronger than we think and we can do much more than we think we can do. There is nothing that is impossible with God on our side. Don’t let the enemy, fear, lack of confidence, passivity, or laziness keep you from doing what you need to do to have the life that you can/want to have. Victory is ours for the taken but will we do the work to take it?
