MICAH 7: (7&8) I look to the Lord for help. I wait confidently for God to save me, and my God will certainly hear me. For though I fall, I will rise again. Though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light. (18) There is no other God like you, who pardons the guilt of the remant, overlooking the sins of His special people, you delight in showing your unfailing love. (19) Once again you will have compassion on us, You will tramble our sins under your feet and throw them into the depths of the ocean. (20) You will show us your faithfulness and unfailing love as you promised to our ancestors.
When I am beating myself up for something that I have either done or not done these scriptures bring me great comfort. When the enemy is trying to defeat me with the thoughts of how I do not measure up to God’s expectations or that I upset God with my sinful actions, I can use these verses to speak the wonderful truth to override the enemies lies. When I am feeling bad for something that I have done, I can remind myself of God’s kindness by reading these verses. They are a great reminder of the love and mercy of God.
Even though we fall short daily there is no need to carry around the guilt that often times comes along with failure. God pardons our guilt and He crushes our sins under His feet. If He forgives and forgets our sins and short comings then we have to do the same. He does not want us to be filled with guilt and shame because that will not help us overcome sin at all. Guilt and shame will actually weaken us and weigh us down, keeping us unable to break free from the sin that trips us up.
No matter what we have done, how far back we have fallen, or how long we have ran from God, we can come boldly and confidently to Him for help. He will forgive, forget, and rise us up once again. He will help us climb up out of the pit that we have got ourselves stuck in. He will break the chains that have been holding us there. He will give us the strength and endurance to climb our way out of the pit and into victory from our oppression. He will not do the work for us but He will give us what we need to do it.
God loves to show His compassion and unfailing love towards us. He delights in encouraging us by forgiving our sins and loving us in the middle of our mess. He knows our hearts and that is how He chooses to see us. He does not see us as what we do, He sees us for who we are in Christ. He delights in being our strength in our weaknesses, our light in the darkness, our counselor to walk through our inner issues, our healer for the pain and turmoil that we are in, and our best friend to do life with. He is our coach in the game of life and our biggest fan. He wants to see us succeed.
