Like I said in previous blogs, our thoughts are superior to the rest of us. They dictate our feelings, our words, our actions, and even our character. When we have the wrong mindset, our thoughts have a negative affect on our lives. Lets look at what the bible says about our thoughts, how they effect us, and how we can change them.
ROMANS 8:6 Says, so letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace.
This scripture tells us just how important our mind is to the overall of our lives. If we think bad, negative, down, harmful thoughts then the result of that is death to our spirit and heart. But if we think good, positive, uplifting, encouraging thoughts then we will have a life of joy and peace. Our thoughts can determine if we are happy or sad, at peace or angry, hopeful or hopeless.
ROMANS 12:2 ….Don’t copy the behaviors and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way that you think.
This scripture tells us that our behavior comes from how we think and that we change our behavior by letting God change the way that we think, making us a brand new person. It tells us that we can completely change ourselves just by having right thinking.
ROMANS 13:14 …..and don’t let yourself think about ways to indulge your evil desires
This scripture tells us that we do have a choice of what we think. We can choose if we will have good or bad thoughts. We can stop ourselves from thinking wrong and start thinking right.
EPHESIANS 4:23 ….let the Spirit renew your thoughts
This scripture tells us that we cover up wrong thoughts with true and right and Godly thoughts. We form new thought patterns by allowing the Holy Spirit to give us new and right thoughts.
PHILIPPIANS 4:8 Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.
I think that this scripture and Ephesians 4:23 go hand and hand. I feel that this scripture tells us what kind of thoughts that the Holy Spirit will put in our mind, and that those are the ones that we should constantly think about. It tells us to focus our thoughts on what is good, positive, and encouraging.
There are many more scriptures about the mind and I encourage you to do some digging and study more on the mind of Christ so that you can know the mind that is in you, just waiting to be brought out into the light. I will cover a few more things about how important our thoughts are and how to fight for the right ones in the next few entries. As I stated before, in the previous blog, I want to give you the information on our thoughts in small doses so that you can ponder the information and really take it in. I can not express to you how important our thoughts are. They have the power to help or hurt you and I do not want anyone to hurt themselves (let the enemy control the mind) any longer. Freedom and happiness are just around the corner my friend.
