Take what is yours

Jesus offers us many things in the bible. He talks about all the things that we have available to us through the Holy Spirit that abides in us. He talks about how He wants us to have all the promises of God. And we all say that we want those promises. But far to often people think that they have to do something special or be perfect before they can have the promises of God. We allow condemnation and the enemy to stand in the way.

Although Jesus wants us to have all these things, He will not make us have them. He wants us to have the best life possible but at the same time He will not make us take what is rightfully ours. All the things that Jesus promises in the bible are for each and every one of us, no matter who we are, what we have done, where we are at in life at this point, and no matter how wide or how deep our sin is. As long as we believe in our hearts and have confessed with our mouths that Jesus is lord and saver, was born as a human, died a sinners death, and rose from the grave on the 3rd day, we have rights to all the things that He speaks of in the bible. He wants to give us righteousness, peace, joy, prosperity, courage, guidance, strength, self control, healing, deliverance, power, a sound mind, and the list goes on. He wants us to have the absolute best life that we can possibly have. But He will not make us receive or make use of these things. He wants us to receive these gifts and promises and put them to use, changing our entire lives forever, from the inside out.

I had a hard time understanding what it meant to receive, and how I was suppose to do that. I couldn’t grasp how I was suppose to just accept what Jesus wanted to give me. I couldn’t understand that I did not have to do anything special for Him to give me all those wonderful things. Then, one day He put on my heart that I receive His gifts and promises just like I receive gifts from people, like on Christmas or my birthday. He said that I didn’t do anything special for those people to give me a gift so why would I have to do anything special for God to give me gifts. All that I had done was be born into the world for those people to give me gifts and show their love and appreciation for me, and it is the same with God. We receive all the things that Jesus talks about in the bible by simply receiving them, and then make use of them, changing our entire lives from the inside out.

For me, it took a lot of me speaking and reminding myself,  several times a day,  all the things that I have available to me and what my new nature is. I still have to remind myself that I have received the promises of God, therefore,  I have the things that I need,  when I need them. It is something that the enemy attacks me on often,  so I am always reminding myself who I am in Christ and all the things that I have available to me because of Him. I am always fighting to keep the truth in me and to not let the enemy deceive me in anyway.

Believe and receive is all that we are required to do to have all that Jesus says that we have available to us. We can not say that we receive it, but then don’t believe that we have it. If we don’t believe that we have something, we will not be able to make use of it. And if we don’t make use of what Jesus has put inside of us, then we will not see the positive changes in our lives. We have to believe in our hearts that we have all the things that we say that we have received from Jesus so that we can make use of them and have the life that Jesus died for us to have.

Will you believe and receive the promises of God today with your whole heart? Will you let Him work through you to help you have the best life possible?

Dear God,

Thank you for your Holy Spirit that dwells within me. Thank you for the new life I have available to me because of you. Lord I receive all the promises in your word. I receive all the things that you say are mine. Help me to believe with my whole heart that I have all the things that you have given, having no doubt at all. Help me to walk in the Spirit today and every day after, achieving the life that you died for me to have. It is Jesus’ name that I pray this to you!  AMEN
