How to have the life that God intends for you to have

There is no doubt that none of us has it all together. We all have areas in our lives in which we could grow, things that need to change, weaknesses, bad habits, wrong desires, bad attitudes, and the list goes on. No one person on this earth is perfect. Some of us know what we need to change, some of us don’t know where we are going wrong, and some of us know what we need to do but just don’t want to put in the time or effort to do so. God doesn’t expect us to have it all together, but He expects us to grow throughout our lives. Therefore, when the Holy Spirit is trying to work with us to help bring about a change but we aren’t cooperating with Him, we will have an underlying feeling of discontentment, dissatisfaction, unhappiness, or maybe even misery. That is one of the reasons why it is vital to our well-being that we follow the guidance of the Holy Spirit and do our part in our partnership with God.

God knows us better than we know ourselves because He created each and every one of us. He knows what makes our lives whole & satisfied, what will make our lives rich & fulfilling, what our purpose is, what will make us truly happy, what we need to do to be our best selves, and how we can love and enjoy our lives. He also knows what will hinder us from those things. He knows the best ways for us to achieve success in everything that we need to do and wants to guide us along the way. Since He knows all of this it would be in our best interest go follow His guidance so that He can lead us into victory and wholeness. It is actually very foolish of us if we do not do so. But often times we like to be stubborn or hard headed and want to try to do things our own way. Sometimes we even do the total opposite of what we feel we are being lead to do. Our excuses could be of many different ones but most of the time it is simply because we think we know what is best or want to do what we want to do and how we want to do it.

Until we make the decision to follow the Holy Spirit in every area of our lives we will not be in the will of God for our lives, therefore we won’t be living our best life. But that does not mean that God loves us any less or that He is far from us. He lives in us and is waiting for us to surrender our ways to His way so that He can lead us into that life. Living our best life, the life that God has for us, doesn’t mean that we have to have it all together. It doesn’t mean that we don’t make mistakes or do wrong things. It doesn’t mean that we don’t face trials and difficulties. It simply means that we follow the guidance of the Holy Spirit in every area of our lives.

When we conduct our lives in this manner it means that we are doing the best that can at that moment with the knowledge that we have. We spend our entire lives growing in one area or another right up to the moment that we are called home to be with God. There will be things that we do today that we will learn to do better or different by this time next year. That doesn’t mean that we were any less of a person then because we didn’t do it right. It is how we grow. And we can enjoy and love the process while we grow when we let God be our guide. When we are following the Holy Spirit we have a peace about ourselves even when we don’t do everything right. There is something about knowing that we are doing the best that we can by following the Holy Spirit that soothes the soul. So if you want to be on your way to the life that God intends for you to have then follow the guidance of the Holy Spirit in every area of your life. If your heart is telling you to go left then go left. If your flesh is telling you to just do it later make sure you do it right then. If you aren’t sure of which way to go (your not feeling a direct guidance) then ask yourself what way would you advise a friend a go and go that way. It won’t always be easy to summit the guidance of the Holy Spirit but it is the best way to live our best life.
