The Bible tells us that when we know the truth it will set us free. While it is talking about the truth of the word of God, I also think that it is talking about the truth of ourselves. And I also think that it is not just knowing the truth that sets us free, we also have to act on that truth. We will never lose weight by just knowing that a healthy diet and exercise will help us lose weight, we have to take action and eat healthier and exercise.
Learning truth comes with responsibility. Responsibility means to respond to our ability to do a thing. So once we learn the truth about something we then have the ability to do it. We learn what to do to correct something or to change something. But just knowing what to do will not make a difference in our lives. We have to take action and respond to our ability to make the change.
Many of us are unhappy in certain areas of our lives and we feel like we are justified for our unhappiness because of something that happened or something that someone else did to us. Some of us think that we have to put up with being unhappy or unsatisfied with areas of life because we have weaknesses or have to just put up with or accept certain things. But the truth is that just because we may have a reason to our unhappiness that doesn’t mean that we are obligated to be unhappy. Once we know the truth we have the ability to make changes!!
I am gonna go ahead and tell you that it probably will not be easy in the beginning because it’s like you are stopping a bad habit and starting a good habit. You may have to let your feelings kick and scream for awhile. It is going to require that you live purposely, paying close attention to yourself and acting on purpose. But it gets easier as you take responsibility and before long you will have success if you stick with it. Trust me when I say that it will be worth the fight.
Our happiness, peace, and joy all start within ourselves so sit down and have a truth meeting with yourself and God. Ask him to help you see and face truth about yourself and circumstances. Write down what comes to you and then what you can do to take responsibility in that area. Then write down a commitment statement to yourself and read it throughout each day to remind and encourage yourself to keep up the good work. Before you know it you will have increased joy, peace, and satisfaction.
